“In musical terms, we are particularly looking forward to four large orchestras,” explains Rüdiger Pusch, programme director of the festival and director of Krystallpalast Varieté, which as a partner to Fairnet GmbH is co-organising the music festival. Visitors will experience Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra (4 August, 8pm), Leipzig Music School’s big band (8 August, 5pm), the Leipzig Symphonic Wind Orchestra (12 August, 8pm) and the "Caravan Orchestra Haifa < > Weimar" (11 August, 5pm), who will ensure a great atmosphere at the market with their klezmer music.
"But we are also delighted that in the band 'Karussell', we have one of the best-known bands from this city in the programme, whose hits can be sung along to by generations,” continued Pusch.
Musical film, cabaret and co.
The concert recordings also promise great classical music moments, for example from the Gewandhaus orchestra conducted by Riccardo Chailly, Herbert Blomstedt and Andris Nelsons or from the Thomanerchor conducted by Georg Christoph Biller. There will also be a time slot for wordsmiths every evening just before 8pm. Under the title "Cabaret - Comedy - Poetry", Leipzig’s doyen Meigl Hofmann gets a chance to speak, as do poetry greats Julius Fischer and Nils Straatmann.
