Every year, more than 10,000 enthusiastic spectators line the routes of Saxony's cycling highlight. The event took place for the first time in the 1960s, and the traditional race has continued to grow since its relaunch in 2004. More than 2,000 participants take part in various races, guided family cycling tours and the Leipzig children's bike race every year. In addition, the Velo-Fair offers the chance to check out what's new.
Competitions
After the successful premiere last year, the starter's gun for the Neuseen Classics will be fired for the individual time trial over 20 kilometres on the evening of May 20th, 2017. On May 21st, three other competitions will take place over 40, 60 and 100 kilometres respectively. The starting point for each race is the Old Trade Fair. The races are traditionally part of Germany's biggest everyman racing series, the "German Cycling Cup".
There are starting fees for the participants of the race. An overview of the costs and all information on registration can be found at www.neuseenclassics.de/online-anmeldung.

Family cycling
Also in 2017 the popular family cycling tours will take place as part of the Neuseen Classics. These will start on 21st May at 09.00 from Leipzig (Old Trade Fair)) and from Borna (Market). The common goal, after a 40 kilometres stretch, is the Bergbau-Technik-Park (mining technology park) at the Störmthaler lake. The family cycling tours are led by experienced tour guides, who expertly accompany the participants through the Leipziger Neuseenland. In the Bergbau-Technik-Park, a barbecue party with musical accompaniment, as well as a free guided tour of the park awaits the cyclists.
Participation in the family tour is free of charge.
