Tips for arriving by Car
From 4 pm on, the city centre will be closed to vehicular traffic. No entry by car will be possible after this time. Until 7 pm, the city centre can still be exited from these three central locations:
- Am Hallischen Tor
- Thomaskirchhof
- Universitätsstraße
Please note: Vehicles will not be allowed to depart the city centre between 7 pm and 1 am!
After 1 am, it will be possible to depart from the central locations listed above. At 4 am, all streets are expected to be opened.
Park and Ride
<link umwelt-und-verkehr unterwegs-in-leipzig auto-motorrad-und-reisemobile park-ride>Park and Ride car parks are recommended as a stress-free alternative to driving your vehicle to the city centre.
Trams and Bus
Between 4 pm and 1 am trams and buses will run on an alternate timetable. Trams will not run on the inner ring road. There will be no service to stops at Augustusplatz square, Central Station, Goerdelerring, St. Thomas Church, New City Hall, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz or Roßplatz. The city centre can be accessed via the stations at Johannisplatz, Hofmeisterstraße, Wilhelm-Liebknecht-Platz, Lortzingstraße, Westplatz, the alternate stop at Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz at Peterssteinweg and Härtelstraße. Travelers are also encouraged to utilize the S-Bahn trains.
All trams, along with the bus lines 72/73, will travel every fifteen minutes between the hours of 7 pm and 12 am. Transfers at Central Station will not be possible. Bus nightlines will operate as usual at 1:11 am, 2:22 am and 3:33 am. Passengers with a restricted-distance ticket (Kurzstrecke-Ticket) will be allowed to travel on the altered routes to their regular tram stop.
