From November 2014 until the end of February 2015 the double-track tram line will also temporarily operate between Körner- and Shakespearestraße. The LVB is converting the tram tracks so that over this period trams can run on the new track in the direction of the city center and on the interim track away from the city center.
From March 2015 road construction work along the Karl-Liebknecht-Straße (from Körner- to Shakespearestraße) will be resumed and traffic stopped again along this section of the road. The KWL will primarily renew drinking water and wastewater pipes on the west side with public utilities becoming active in the section. The LVB is planning to renew the tram tracks and the city will carry out road construction. Completion of the tram track construction work from Körner- to Shakespearestraße is planned for the end of August 2015.
So far, drinking water and wastewater pipes on the east side have been renewed between Körner- and Shakespearestraße, and also a section of the new tram track has been laid. For the temporary opening, the road surface has been provisionally sealed with a bituminous asphalt layer.
The KARLI construction project is being realised through the cooperation between the City of Leipzig, the LVB and the KWL. For further information see: www.leipzig.de/karli.
