The special thing about Leipzig’s new transport solution is that it interlinks various private and public transport services. Nine sheltered bus platforms and a reserve platform in the outside area ensure travellers are protected against the weather as they get on and off. The public transport operator and Deutsche Bahn are just a few steps away, a car hire service has been integrated into the terminal itself, and 550 parking spaces have been provided above the terminal.
This link-up and the central location of the intercity coach terminal at the main station will considerably alleviate the burden on inner-city traffic. The situation will significantly improve for passengers. There are sanitary facilities, services, retailers and catering available in the new terminal. Coach drivers also benefit from this service and receive offers tailored to their needs.
The terminal and hotels have helped create a new and attractive public space, which connects the centre with the east of the city better than before. Between Brandenburger Straße and Sachsenseite, there will also be a newly designed pedestrian passageway from the hotel building to the terminal, which significantly improves the east side of the station.
