For the past five months, 49 vocational school teachers from Vietnam have been undertaking advanced training at the Education and Technology Centre at Leipzig Chamber of Trades and Crafts. In future, they will train carpenters, metal workers and toolmakers in their home country according to German standards.
Interest in the German dual education system
The Vietnamese economy is growing. One major challenge is delivering good vocational training to meet the ever growing demand for skilled workers. The government of Vietnam has decided to introduce the dual education system to provide better qualifications for skilled workers in its own country. The project through which the Vietnamese government wants to gradually introduce new standards for vocational training is called "Modernising Vietnamese Vocational Training". Vocational school teachers are sent to corresponding partner countries to undertake advanced training.
